Accessibility
Lyrra should be usable by everyone who wants to make a song, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification, or reduced-motion settings. This page states where we are, in numbers, rather than claiming to be finished.
Conformance target
Our target is WCAG 2.2 level AA, which is also the technical standard behind the European Accessibility Act. We consider the site partially conformant: the design system is built to that target and the gaps below are known and open.
Measured contrast
Colour contrast was computed, not estimated, for both the dark and the light theme. Every text pair clears AA in both:
- Primary text on the page background — 17.6 (dark) / 18.6 (light)
- Muted text on the page background — 5.75 / 5.02
- Muted text on a card — 5.37 / 5.19
- Failure and destructive text on a card — 8.0 / 5.69
- Button label on a primary button — 17.6 / 19.3
Colour never carries meaning alone: every state — playing, working, queued, failed — also renders its word, so a state is readable without seeing its colour or its light.
Motion
Setting reduce motion in your system preferences stops every loop on the site: the working pulse, the cross-fades, and the auto-advancing examples on the home page. Nothing moves on its own after that, and nothing important is communicated by movement in the first place.
Keyboard and assistive technology
- Every control is designed so that it is reachable and operable with a keyboard.
- Focus is designed so that it is visible on every focusable element, as an outline, never colour alone.
- Status changes are announced politely rather than interrupting.
- Audio players are native controls, so your own assistive technology drives them.
Known gaps
- No independent third-party audit has been completed. Our conformance claim rests on our own testing.
- Generated lyrics and song titles are user content; we do not control their wording.
- Some long legal pages have no in-page navigation yet, which makes them slow to scan with a screen reader.
